Constant Question – Getting older… or… Getting sober?

Today as I sit in “my home office” (working from home from March 17th- September 1st.. Thanks COVID…) I can smell the lilies of the valley wafting in with the breeze through the open window. The dogs are snuggled up on the bed sniffing, snoozing, and enjoying.

I’m more alert to these wonderful smells. We’ve lived here ten years… I’ve rarely noticed the smell of the lilies in the Spring. Am I getting older and enjoying the little things? Am I getting more sharp being sober? Maybe, perhaps, it was just a really good weather year for the lilies. Regardless I am enjoying!

I’m hearing the noises – neighbor kids – happy noises 🙂 neighbor dogs – sad noises :(… Ran down to make sure they were okay. They were going on a car ride and just really excited.

I’ve noticed new baby bunnies across the street and new baby birds in the back tree.

I think I can *thank* COVID for these last two – although I’m not loving working from home, it’s nice to have a window open, take a stroll around, have a bit more freedom at breaks and lunch time during the day.

I’ve noticed it was/seemed so nice so early in the year. I am just as busy as ever (with 3 jobs), but I’ve feel like I’ve had more time to be outside and enjoy the lovely spring weather this year. I go back to – Am I getting older and enjoying the little things? Am I getting more cognizant being sober? Maybe, perhaps, it was just a really good weather year – no late snow like that last two years for sure! I am enjoying!

I am consistently showing 10 pounds less – not necessarily obvious I don’t think, but it’s nice to see. When I would go to Biolife 6 months ago I was consistently over 140. Now I am consistently 132.. The better thing is when I get out of the shower at our home scale I am 120. I like that! I am less bloated most mornings. I like that! Getting older did not bring this one on… Getting sober did!
